New Years cards are the new Christmas cards. You heard it here first.
I had a stressful fall and I knew that I should get on top of selecting, writing and sending out cards before Christmas… That totally didn’t happen. I think that a lot of woman put unnecessary pressure on themselves to do things at a certain time because everyone else is doing it. Christmas time is full of the would-love-to-dos and the must-dos. The must-dos typically include putting up and decorating the tree (), baking the obligatory sugar and shortbread cookies that look just like they rolled off of a Pinterest page (this gets a half because I still have dough to use), selecting and wrapping amazing and thoughtful presents (still waiting on one to arrive…) all while smiling and presiding over and attending holiday parties like you don’t have a care in the world. But you do. The cards that you haven’t gotten around to even starting yet and the countdown to the 25th is tick-tick-ticking faster and faster. So this year I made my life unbelievably easier by using Minted for New Years cards.
Why Minted? For starters, you will end up sending out gorgeous cards that you know your friends and family will absolutely love. Selecting your card is actually the hardest part of the entire process because they are so many fabulous designs to choose from. Since we didn’t do a family picture this year, I went with a design without a photo. All of Minted’s designs are sourced from all over the world from independent artists and curated by voting and submissions which gives everything you an even more uniquely curated experience.
The whole process was incredibly simple. After selecting the design of the card, I customized the finishes. I chose to use pearlescent paper which added a luxury feel and look to the card and to use a standard card shape (Minted offers nine unique die-cut shapes to choose from) and have a matching gold dot envelope liner. There were SO many options to further customize the design but these were my favourite ones (I should also add that my husband gave the cards his stamp of approval!). I customized the message on the inside of the card as well and chose to match the font to the front text (you can customize literally every step of the process). After finalizing all of my customizations I uploaded recipient addresses for no extra cost (a limited time offer…) which was amazingly easy and looks lovely in-person. The whole process was fun, easy and relatively effortless. My cards were delivered yesterday which was less than 24 hours after having approved the design. To say that I was thrilled with the result would be an understatement. I wish that I had used Minted for my wedding invitations because the quality of the design, paper (it’s so heavy and luxurious) and turnaround time was breathtaking.
Minted has made me a believer. I’ve not only got gorgeous New Years cards to send out but I learned a really valuable lesson: Just because I wasn’t able to send out cards before Christmas doesn’t make the experience any less special to me or the people receiving them.
…And I’m already combing through Minted’s collection of home decor to add to our master bedroom and office so stay tuned for a future post about which pieces I select and how they are displayed!
