I think that when I walk in to Nordstrom there is someone in a dark air-conditioned room filled with monitors and facial recognition software that detects my face who then contacts a friendly makeup salesperson on the floor of the store and tells them they have detected a target customer who likely won’t leave without buying something if approached and offered to “do their eyes.” This almost happened to me and by almost I mean all of it except the first bit about the room with monitors and facial recognition software communicating with the salesperson. The rest totally happened two weekends ago. I went in to get a new Dior Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil because I had used my previous one up. The lovely woman who helped me asked me if she could do my eye makeup and since I was going to a BBQ later that day and did not have anything on except moisturizer, I said yes. The woman was actually the counter manager for Bobbi Brown and was just helping in the Dior section which was a lovely coincidence because at the time I only owned two Bobbi Brown products: an eyeshadow stick and a brush. After my eyes were done the big question came. “Would you like me to do the rest of your face?” And of course I said yes! Fast-forward thirty minutes and I am walking out of Nordstrom to meet my husband Ali and in a small Nordstrom bag I leave carrying a new blush, foundation, tinted eye brightener and the eyebrow pencil that took me in to the store in the first place. Yep, this is way more than I planned on getting but I couldn’t say no when I saw how lovely everything looked on. I was also given what I think is the best promo gift (is it really a gift after you’ve spent so much money?) I’ve ever gotten from making a beauty purchase: A travel sized bronzer and brush in a little black bag. I have specific makeup I travel with to maximize space in my suitcase (I try to always travel with just a carry-on suitcase) making the bronzer and brush are welcome additions to my collection.
I also finally picked up the YSL Top Secrets Natural Action Exfoliator Granule-Free which I had tried before on a past trip to Nordstrom. I had tried to buy this during the last Sephora VIB sale so that I could save some $$$ but couldn’t since it was sold out… But I found it in stock at the Sephora in Chinook Centre! This exfoliator goes on feeling like a gel but it turns into what feels like water after rubbing it on your skin and the results are positively immediate. I suggest getting a sample the next time you are in Sephora so you can experience it for yourself!
