Shu Uemura Makeup Look & Haul

A few weeks ago I visited the Shu Uemura counter in Hudson’s Bay. I was looking for a black liquid eyeliner and wanted to see what they had. I’ve used a Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot in black for years along with a Mac angle brush to apply it but lately (a.k.a. my Korean beauty video fascination) I’ve wanted to get out of my comfort zone.

A quick and simple hunt for a black eyeliner turned into a two week wait to actually get the product… Which was tough for me because I am love taking purchases home with me. No waiting. While I was at the counter the lovely woman helping me explained that Hudson’s Bay was having a pre-Valentines Day event where I could have my makeup done and receive additional bonuses for my purchase. This is why I waited…

A friend and I made our appointment times for the same time at the Shu Uemura counter. My makeup artist was the same woman who helped me with my initial (delayed) purchase which was nice because she remembers my name (always a good sales tactic!).

My look was quite springy which was nice because it gave me hope for better weather, flats and no snow/ice.

I didn’t keep track of which products were used with the exception of the liquid eyeliner because it’s the one I bought. I have had bangs since December and don’t usually wear my hair back like this but decided to show off my filled-in eyebrows. Bangs are such a statement and I forget that all I need to make them go away for an evening is some hairspray for a dramatically different look.

So what products did I end up coming home with? Here’s a list:

Stage Performer Smooth-Out Instant Pore Blurring Primer

Custom Case Duo in black (eye shadow case)

– Soft Pink 140 (similar) and IR Light Purple 715 eyeshadow (similar)

Lasting Soft Gel Pencil 02 M brown

Calligraph:Ink Liquid Eye Liner Applicator and Cartridge in black

What sold me on the eyeliner is that you have to buy the applicator and the liquid separately. This might sound like a bad deal but not to me in this case because of the environmentally friendly idea of not having to buy yet another applicator and because I can switch the ink cartridge whenever I want. The big green bottle on the left was one of my ‘gifts’ for making the purchase. It’s a massive bottle with a really long name: Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O Advanced Formula. The oil part was a little off-putting because I have combination skin but apparently women love it. I’m excited to try everything and post pictures!
